This story is about a boy named James. His parents was eaten up by a rhinoceros that escaped from the London Zoo when they went shopping in London. So, he became and orphan when he was four years old and had to be sent to live with his two horrible aunts. He was treated very badly by his two aunts, Aunt Spiker, the skinny one and Aunt Sponge, the round one. He was not given a single grain of rice and had to be the 'maid' of the house. One day, an old man came to look for James. The old man gave James a bag of tiny green thing that look like sparkling crystals. Before the old man left, James was told not to drop the bag of crocodile tongues or the power and magic will not work on him. After some days, a strange thing happened. The peach tree that had not been growing peaches for a long time suddenly appeared to have a peach growing on it. Many days went by, the peach grew bigger and bigger. Until it was the size a house and touched the ground, the two aunts decided to set up a buisness. They broadcast the peach on to the news and the whole city came down to their place just to take a look at that peach. They ended up making a huge profit. At night, James was asked to pick up the banana skins. He saw a large hole and realised that it was a tunnel. He crawled through the tunnel half-way and fell into the hole. Inside the hole, he met a few creatures, the Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Miss Spider, Silkworm, Glow-worm, Ladybird and Earthworm. At first, they were strangers, but after more communication, they became very good friends. The story is very interesting in the peach. I enjoyed reading that part most. There was also a great ending, inside the book, there is many nice poems that you can read and enjoy. I recommand this book to all ages. (read less)
