This triptych of novellas contains an interesting approach to character development. The use of the same basic core of characters seen from the different points of view of our three narrators definitely adds to the overall story. However, I found the central story "Upright" to ultimately be the strongest of the three, so the addition of "Collies" and "Boys" in some ways almost seemed to distract from the central story. Regardless, this debut effort of Glass's still stands head and shoulders above her sophomore effort - The Whole World Over. (read less)
