I'm a sucker for big, chunky books. I'm also quite fond of long, epic, series. This book delivers on both those counts. I finished it only an hour ago and I am already itching to pick up its successor.

Tolkein was as much fantasy as I had read before this book. This was recommended and much appreciated (so much so I read 1-4 [7 total in series] straight through). Highly recommended there are detailed characters and lands with stories that you really can sink your teeth into. Martin take his time with each story line but you have so much else to share your interest with. The soft cover books were all 1500 plus pages each so much of the time you appreciate the stories dancing near and across each other so as not to become bored or stagnant with plots. Cant wait for the next book! (read less)
