Reading Twyla's book is like having her sitting beside you, as a mentor and a friend, sharing her life experience on how she could remain creative in her life-long career as one of America's greatest choreographer.
I found the flow is smooth, starting from the basic of all creativity by doing a ritual - _for her, by calling a cab to workout in the gym in the wee hour_ - , creative DNA, scratching, failures, to the long run objective of making a creative habit.
She gave practical examples, elaborated with her own experience, how she came out with an idea, made mistakes at times, stucked in a rut and turned it into a groove, and other examples of creative habits from master musicians like Beethoven and Mozart.
At the end of each chapter, there is an exercise. For some of them, I just pondered quickly and move on to the next chapter, I was _lazy_. The points are good and relevant, definitely not just for dancers. (read less)
