This is a romance written from a different point of view from which most I read are usually written.
Instead of the story of two person coming together, it is one of an estranged couple, discovering love and each other, for the first time.
Jake and Mattie Hart had a shotgun marriage, in this sixteen years of marriage, Jake has constantly strayed and there was always arguments.
Yet when he finally decides to leave home, Mattie found out that she has contracted a terminal disease which left her with left her with less than a year to live. Driven by guilt, he returns to her side and the daughter who always stood on Mattie's side.
In the course of this, they found the family they are meant to be, come to terms with their inner turmoils and devils...
Having said more than I should, I would say that this book is a worthy read, and worth buying if you are tired of the usual romance novels. (read less)
