I thought this is a good one, I got quite a big picture of what Google Maps is all about after reading this. Other than Google Map APIs, it explains the theory behind the map engine, the projection engine, with a few formulas that will take you a while to figure out. But don't worry so much about that, so long that you understand the general concept.

Don't expect to find out about the Rails plugin that wrap around the Google Map API, "YM4R-GM":http://thepochisuperstarmegashow.com/ProjectsDoc/ym4r_gm-doc/. The authors has the reason for that, knowing that Google Map API is Javascript library, it is important to know how they work at Javascript level.

However I thought a chapter covering YM4R-GM would be great, but the online documentation is not too bad as well. (read less)
