Product Description

Idjit Galoot has a problem. He escaped from his master's house for a brief romp around town, seeking out easy targets such as bitches in heat, fresh roadkill and unguarded garbage cans. When he returns to his house, the aged basset hound discovers that his master has packed up their belongings and moved to Florida without him. "Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed" is the story of Idjit Galoot's ne'er do well owner and his efforts to work his way back to the dog that he loves. Along the way, Idjit's owner encounters Christian terrorists, swamp-dwelling taxidermists, carnies, a b-list poopie-groupie, bluesmen on the run from a trickster deity, and the Florida Skunk Ape.

This book is effin funny. I picked it up because the reviews on Amazon and other places were comparing the author to Christopher Moore and Tim Dorsey. I love Moore and Dorsey, but this Carbuncle guy takes things a step further. Think of this book as a politically incorrect, crude, hilarious updated version of Kerouac's On the Road sprinkled with liberal doses of Bukowski, Vonnegut and H.S. Thompson influences. The writing style is fresh, the pop culture references never end, and the humor is gut-busting. If you're looking for something hilarious, outrageous and different, check out Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, Chewed, Chunked and Spewed. If you appreciate sick humor, you will thank me for this recommendation. (read less)

Lance Carbuncle is a natural. I can't wait for his next novel. It may sound like an impossible feat for a 35 year old, unemployed, unmarried guy to morph into a hero(of sorts) within 266 pages, but Mr. Carbuncle knows what he's doing. Flaming sombreros, spewing vultures, and stuffed relatives aside, there is an underlying epic feel to the storytelling, plenty of fun-facts lingering in the footnotes, and enough crude humor to fill a freezer with... This one belongs on the shelf between Christopher Moore and Glen Duncan.

This one's all about the journey, not the destination. Hilarious, disturbing and compelling. Almost impossible to put down. I'm on my second read of it currently and am finding new things that I missed the first time. Love it.

Wow! What a ride. I just started this book yesterday and finished it today. Smashed is an incredibly strange, disturbing, and hilarious road-trip of a book. The main character is a loser who lives with his mother and has a disturbingly close relationship with his basset hound, Idjit Galoot. The mishaps and misadventures in the book come at you at an alarming rate and make you want to keep reading. Lance Carbuncle has a very sick sense of humor but you can’t help but laugh out loud at some of the stuff in SSSCCS. This is one of the funniest books I have read recently. This one is not for those with weak stomachs, but if you are a little demented and want a good laugh, it’s definitely worth checking out. Readers of Christopher Moore, Tim Dorsey, and Hunter S. Thompson would enjoy Smashed, Squashed, Splattered, etc. (read less)
