A truly heartbreaking story of child abuse and poverty in the American south. The narrative in this book is incredibly engaging, stark and honest.

Based largely on Allison's own childhood.

About an aging female novelist from Australia who is also an animal rights advocate.
This book is very interesting, it presents several arguments both in support of and against the "meat market" culture. It also goes into Elizabeth Costello's background, her intimacies, her own struggles to be present in the world and to articulate the things she feels so strongly about.
I enjoyed this very much indeed.
